Not all screen time is created equal. Passive activities, such as endlessly scrolling through social media or watching videos, can be unproductive. However, when screen time is directed towards engaging, educational content, it can contribute positively to your child’s learning and development.

Here are some ways to strike the right balance:

1.Set Clear Limits: Define daily screen time limits to ensure children have time for other important activities like exercise, socialising, and sleep.

2.Prioritise Educational Apps: Focus on apps that support learning, creativity, and skill development. Look for platforms designed with children’s growth in mind, such as Audition Ready.

3.Model Healthy Habits: Children often mimic their parents. Show them how to balance screen use with other activities by setting a good example.

4.Encourage Offline Practice: Use screen time as a springboard for real-world application. For example, a dance tutorial on Audition Ready can lead to practising moves away from the screen.

When screen time is purposeful and focused on learning, it can help children in the following ways:

•Skill Development: Interactive apps build practical skills, whether it’s practising accents, learning choreography, or understanding new concepts.

•Self-Paced Learning: Digital tools allow children to revisit challenging material, learn at their own speed, and gain confidence in their abilities.

•Inspiring Creativity: Platforms like Audition Ready encourage creativity and expression, making screen time an opportunity to explore their passions.

At Audition Ready, we understand the importance of making screen time productive. Our platform is designed to offer young performers a range of tools and resources to support their journey in the performing arts.

1.Interactive Lessons: From practising accents to learning choreography, children engage with content that encourages active participation.

2.Holistic Preparation: Beyond performances, we offer guidance on auditions, college applications, and real-world scenarios.

3.Encouraging Offline Activities: Lessons on the app inspire practice and growth beyond the screen, helping children build confidence and skills in real life.

4.Accessibility: By providing professional-grade resources at an affordable price, Audition Ready ensures that educational screen time is available to all.

To make the most of your child’s screen time, here are a few simple tips:

• Choose educational apps that align with your child’s interests and goals.

• Discuss what they’ve learned and encourage them to apply their new skills offline.

• Balance screen time with outdoor activities, family time, and rest.

By focusing on quality over quantity, parents can ensure that screen time contributes to their child’s development and prepares them for future opportunities in a balanced, healthy way.

The workshop, designed to nurture emerging talent, brought together two industry powerhouses: Claire Cassidy and Jodie Oliver-Hoar.

Claire Cassidy, a highly regarded instructor and a familiar face on the Audition Ready app, led participants through dynamic dance sessions, recalls, and callback exercises. Known for her expert guidance, Claire’s teaching sessions—available on the app—continue to inspire performers at every stage of their journey. Her presence added both professionalism and energy to the event.

Joining Claire was Jodie Oliver-Hoar, whose expertise perfectly complemented the day’s theme. Together, the duo delivered an immersive “In the Style of Matilda” workshop, combining movement, performance techniques, and insider tips. Attendees left with sharpened skills, boosted confidence, and a deeper appreciation for performing in the style of the iconic musical.

Audition Ready’s Matilda Day was a resounding success, ensuring the next wave of performers is more prepared than ever to shine at auditions and one stage

The day was packed with specially tailored workshops designed to educate and prepare young talents to be screen-ready. From the basics of acting to the nuances of camera work, each session was crafted to provide valuable insights into the entertainment industry. What made the day even more special was the involvement of Vicky Binns, famed for her roles in beloved TV shows like Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Vicky brought her wealth of experience to the table, hosting some of the workshops and sharing tips and tricks that only a seasoned actress could offer.
